Jilapi

Jilapi is a famous and traditional sweetmeat originating from Chowk Bazaar, an iftar and food hub in Old Dhaka of Bangladesh, which is very popular throughout the country. Especially, in Ramadan it is most commonly prepared and sold in Chawkbazar of Old Dhaka which is a popular iftar hub to the natives of Dhaka.

Ingredients:

  • For Jilapi Batter

            1.Rice flour - 2/3 cups

            2.Gram flour - 1/2 cups

            3.Water as required

  • For Sugar Syrup

            1.Sugar -  3/4 cups

            2.Food Color - 3-4 drops

            3.Lemon juice - 1 teaspoon(as required)

            4.Water -  as required

            5.Oil for deep frying( as required)
